I received this item exactly 4 months ago. I purchased it for our RV. Things I like about this unit specifically center around the display. I like that it gives me the information that I'm looking for and nothing else. I wanted inside and outside temps as well as inside and outside humidity levels. Didn't need a clock function. I like the size of the numerals and ease of viewing and I like that they're similar in size (outside to inside). I installed the batteries that came with the unit and mounted it on the wall. After 3 months the outside temperature stopped displaying so I installed new batteries in the outdoor sensor. Now the outside reading would come on for about 10 seconds and then go off. 20 seconds later it would come back on and continue to cycle in this manner indefinitely. This was frustrating and brought me to almost post a 1 star review. Then today, on a whim I replaced the batteries in the base unit as well (which had been displaying normally) and that restored normal function. I have no way of knowing the quality or condition of the supplied batteries but suffice it to say, 3 months is not anything to write home about. The old and less expensive AccuRite Walmart units I used for years lasted for about a year. I also found the backlight feature to be useless. In a darkened camper, pressing the backlight button produces enough light to completely wash out the numerical images. In the attached photo, the camera lens actually picked up a portion of the display whereas to my eye, I could see nothing. Because I like the display I plan on keeping the units and batteries separated in a ziplock in the camper and only install batteries and mount it when we actually use the camper. I never had to do that with the AccuRite but they don't seem to offer that display configuration anymore. 8/29/18 - UPDATE - Changing my review back to 1 star. As it turned out, it wasn't that the unit needed new batteries, it was just that the unit needed to reset itself by reinstalling the batteries. Now in less than a week, I find it doing the same thing and needing to be reset again. Now, for no reason, the outside temp does not display at all and the inside temp switches to Celsius and the unit locks up completely. Pushing any or all of the buttons has no effect at all. Reinstalling the batteries rests it back to normal but then in a couple hours it goes back into the identical failure mode. This is getting ridiculous (not to mention frustrating).
