I was a very late arrival to playing Destiny, I downloaded the demo in late August and really enjoyed so I picked up the actual game when it went on sale for $20. When I did that, it was prior to the 2.0 update. After the 2.0 update the base game is basically useless. You can do one vanguard strike at level 20. Cricible playlists are cut down to a couple lists, no more dedicated control, clash game lists etc. The level cap was at 34, which isn't a big deal, however since legendary marks now replaced vanguard and crucible marks you can't earn those until you get to level 40, effectively making it very unlikely that you will get legendary drops. You can still earn strange coins and motes of light to buy stuff from Xur, but most items for purchase require level 40. Now back to the legendary edition. Here is my main issue with this edition. Going back to the base game, I had never bought any dlc, so buying the legendary edition made sense instead of buying the dlc separate. I was expecting to get a single disc loaded with obviously the base game, but also including all the dlc. Wrong. In the legendary edition you get the base game, exact same disc as the base game, for the dlc you get a code voucher to be redeemed for the dlc content: Dark Below, House of Wolves and the Taken King. Not to mention a 17gb update file, so don't expect to play right away. Not impressed with my legendary code voucher. I really do enjoy the game, but I'm really disappointed with how Bungie dealt with the Legendary edition regarding the dlc. It's a pretty blatant attempt to stop people from buying the game, playing for a while, then sending the game to a friend with all the content. If you are to sell it, you essentially keep the dlc but the value is gone after that. It makes anyone else buying a used game stuck with a base game and left with buying the dlc to make the game worthwhile. Buyer beware.
