Water does not at all penetrate through this. I ordered two big rolls to cover my 851 sqft garden because being in the south, we have thick, deep grass tubers that dont die. I should have done a water test on a small portion before I spent two hours rolling out and stapling down such square footage. But I was optimistic. Once it was all rolled out and down, I decided to see how well water would penetrate the surface.. I sprayed it with the hose in a section and after more than an hour, the water was still pooled up on the surface and wasnt budging. I had to undo the whole entire thing in frustration and carry two massive rolls folded up to the UPS store to return it. Huge pain in the a. I was just happy to get it off my hands. I was super optimistic that this would be the answer to my weed problems but nah. Everything would die of thirst. I think this product has the potential to be great if they would just tweak the top layer of the fabric to be way more absorbent.
