I had such high hopes for this book since I have enjoyed Benedict's other historical fiction. However, the epilogue confirmed my thoughts that she just recreated Belle's amazing life and achievements to fit in with the author's own life and modern beliefs. People want to read truthful and factual historical biographies, not just made up stories to fit a current narrative. So disappointing and kind of slanderous to take a real heroine and make up stories that don't fit her life and times.
