I purchased a Modkat XL directly from Modkat just a few weeks ago. I had some problems attaching the step to the side entry opening, and the top hatch is also wonky and won't close properly. After I asked what their return policy was, they completely ghosted me. They also would not post my 2-star review on the product's page on their website, confirming that they pick and choose reviews and use only the highest ratings. The box itself is okay, but it's so overpriced! I thought (stupidly) that if it cost this much, it must be special. But...it's a plastic box. You can buy a Sterilite storage container for about $134 less at Target and get the same result: a plastic box to hold cat litter. And when using the Sterilite container, we didn't get litter *everywhere* like we do with this--when using the side entry, litter gets all over the house. I won't be buying another one, and thanks to Modkat's awful service, I now warn people away from them. Epilogue: RIP, Modkat XL. All these months later, I have tossed this ridiculous litterbox in the dumpster. Poop and pee began sticking to the super-weird liner (which looks oddly like it's made of duct tape). So at this point I have to ask myself, do I want to keep buying liners at $40 a pop for three? Or do I just want to toss this ridiculous thing and go back to the wonderful, low-maintenance, non-litter-EVERYWHERE $6 plastic storage box? Spoiler alert! There's a Chicago landfill with a $140 litterbox in it at this very moment! Lesson learned. I need to trust my own logic when it comes to stupid things like $140 litterboxes.
