★★☆☆☆
Very few illustrations, politically motivated.
There are hardly any illustrations. I wasn't expecting a picture book but out of hundreds of pages there are very few pictures? Secondly, in the first or second paragraph they write something akin to, "viruses come in all kinds of varying degrees of lethality, from a common flu you hardly notice, to the extremely deadly covid-19". FYI, Covid-19 has close to a 99.9% survival rate. How am I supposed to take anything in this book seriously after reading something like that. Of all the insanely lethal viridae to choose from, they went with a corona virus (obviously to signal their political leaning moreso than for accuracy). Also, downplaying the flu? You don't even have to go back that far (2006) for a flu variant that was roughly 8x deadlier than covid-19, let alone picking any number of other deadlier pathogens. What a shame. I was looking forward to giving this book to my daughter.
