Revisionist distortion and misrepresentation.
Fundamentalist activist Barton continues on his quest to revise American history to fit his own agenda and to enrich himself to the detriment of knowledge. Please people, research some of the documents and statements Barton references and read them yourselves. What becomes clear upon doing so is that Barton cherry picks excerpts, deliberately distorting and misrepresenting the facts to prop up his own assertions. To take a paragraph or a few sentences from the writings of the founding fathers and to enshroud them in propaganda is not scholarship and should be called out for what it is. The true nature of Jefferson's intention can easily be discerned as his writings are available online, in the library, or your local bookstore. Read the originals in their original contextual surroundings and compare the intent that Jefferson imbued upon his words to Barton's analysis. You will see that Barton fabricates, nearly from whole cloth, his positions. This book should be categorized as historical fiction because it is not based on the evidence that is readily available. If Barton is not lying then he must have very poor comprehension skills to so completely misrepresent history. If he is deliberately lying and misleading people then I hope his god is a forgiving one. Be wary of this man and his ilk as they are trying to create a past that did not exist. Be skeptical, do your own research, read history texts by actual accredited history scholars. Read the original writings. I implore you not to base your understanding of our history based on some fundamentalist hobbyist's opinion.
