Great idea for a product! Unfortunately, as far as I can tell, it does not work. I got my spire, and experimented. Firstly, the app calculated a completely arbitrary average breath count for me. Renting the alarms ("you're breathing too fast") useless. I was told by the Spire support that the average would change over time. I didn't see it change at any point, though. Secondly, the device did not - at any point - count my breath correctly. I tried breathing normally (9 breaths per minute). I tried breathing like I do when I meditate 2-3 breaths per minute). I even tried breath of fire (app 100-200 breaths per minute) , just to see if it could count the breaths. it could not in any of the instances. Including my normal, everyday breath. then numbers it came up with were simply off. Not just a little off - but seemed pretty arbitrary. I talked to the helpful Spire staff - they send me a new Spire. Same story with this device. I ended up returning both, getting my money back. The staff at Spire were very sweet, very helpful. 5 stars for customer service and good intentions. But as far as I can tell the product simply doesn't work.
