I searched high and low for a mug like this that was NOT made in China. I posted a question in the Q&A section, and another buyer told me it was made in the USA. Every other mug I looked at was made in China, so I went ahead and ordered this one. When it arrived, I noticed that it does not have the country of origin indicated anywhere, which I believe is against the law. There are some tiny characters that are either Chinese or Japanese according to Google Translate. It's either Chinese for "New Product," or Japanese for "Brand New." I'll place my bets on Chinese. There was a little pamphlet in the box with the manufacturer's email address, so I emailed requesting the country of origin but got no response. In the end, it's a nice mug, you might like it, but I'm giving it one star due to the apparent deception and ignoring my email.
