Very happy new owner of a "Blood Hands" toilet seat!
[Review updated below] OK, this is easily one of the most ridiculous things I've ever purchased. When I moved into my latest apartment, the toilet seat had an annoying chip in it and I kept meaning to replace it but as you can imagine shopping for a toilet seat is boring so I kept putting it off. I don't even know how I found this listing, maybe because the seller sponsored it. When I saw the Blood Hands, I just knew I had to have it! I'm a big fan of zombie flicks/post-apocalyptic lit so it immediately spoke to me. Installation was a little tough as I have a tiny bathroom with minimal clearance on one side but once I figured it out, it was a breeze. I must have an extra-long long seat, as I had to loosen and swing out the round bits that bolt to the toilet all the way. The very brief, mostly image-based instructions on the back of the box kinda let you know what to do but it definitely took me some tinkering to get everything to fit together. It is truly a "slow close" seat, no more banging lids. I had to briefly demonstrate for my boyfriend how it needs just a tap, I think he's been conditioned as a dude to be sure the seat really goes down but that's not necessary here. It's solidly-made and surprisingly, uh, comfortable? The fact that it's wood almost scared me off but this ain't my grandma's old pine-colored toilet seat that's for sure. The print on the inside is a bonus as far as I'm concerned but obviously prospective buyers should realize that they're buying a toilet seat with permanent "blood stains" on it; some people might find that weird, though I find it delightful and hilarious. Then again, it's not like I have a ton of people over all the time. My one complaint -- hence four stars -- is a minor printing error (?) toward the end of the seat with a pinkish smudge, it's repeated on the lid as well as the seat so I'm guessing it's not so much printing error as error in the graphic. It probably seems weird to get nitpitcky about a weird "blood-stained" toilet seat but whatever. I'm also dinging them on the unclear instructions because how many of us have ever installed a toilet seat? Slightly more instruction would be awesome. If you're less adventurous/gross than I and are interested in one of the many other, less gross designs offered here, I'm sure you can't go wrong. I never thought I'd say this but I love my new toilet seat! Update: after a few months of use, I have to say I'm not very impressed. The finish is cracking underneath and on the side, plus the hardware has been an absolute pain. The seat is always crooked even with constant adjustments and one bolt was perpetually just falling off. I ended up having to spend an extra $9 on replacement hardware to get a more sturdy bolt that doesn't pop off all the time. Overall I am still pleased with the look of this seat but the hardware could use some work. I've knocked my review down to two stars due to questionable durability and the inconvenience of constantly having to reinstall the bolt after nearly every use. I live alone so it's not like the seat has been put through unusual heavy use or anything. I will likely replace this within a year of purchase for something plain and more durable.
