To explain a bit at first, this was our first time using any color, now we narrowed down what works for us, I would never buy these again. Just to note also, I was not sure if these were more of a crayon, marker or chalk, These are more of a crayon with an oilier texture. Maybe if you have very blond hair, but I relied on the fact that this brand stated in the title as of this writing that it "works on all hair colors", well it really does not. At all. My daughter has medium brown hair with golden overtones, so not even the darkest of hair. These looked vibrant on Amazon and I thought maybe because of the metallic nature of them they may color better than other versions. Well, no such luck, I had a very disappointed daughter (11 year old) on crazy hair day at school, luckily another child brought a spray version to school, that did work well and she was pleased... needless to say, now we know what to buy for the upcoming Halloween. I think if you have light blond hair these would work well, but they should not be advertised to show up on all hair colors. Just a side note, only the pink and green showed up at all, although slightly, I thought the silver and gold would, but nothing on those, the other problem was the 2 that did show any color at all (very minimal at best) showed up only a couple of inches from the scalp in thin lines (on flat hair) and I used a considerable amount, her hair is midway down her back, their it barely showed. The texture of waxy build up was not pleasant at all, and I did style her hair prior to using, that was a waste as well since the process of dragging the crayon through completely flattened any volume out of the hair. Hope this helps others since I really rely on your reviews and based on those I bought this.... would not recommend at all for medium to dark hair.
