So far, not so good.
Yesterday, I had a gift card sent to my grandson's teacher even after having read some of the reviews that expressed concern because they never knew if the card was received or used. I waited 24 hours, and then spoied the surprise by sending her an email asking if she received it. When she said she had not, I called Amazon and they resent the email but not until he had asked me if there was an Amazon account associated with this email address. I was surprised that they asked that and would've expected if it made a difference that there would have been that question when I was purchasing the card, but there was not. After the second email gift card was sent, we thought that perhaps the card was blocked by the school's email policy, so his teacher gave me her personal email account. This is information that she should not have had to divulge, and had I known that this would've been such a hassle, I would've thought otherwise. My assumption was that if an Amazon gift card is sent, even if the intended receiver does not have an Amazon account, this would be a good marketing strategy for Amazon to encourage new people to open accounts.
At this point, she and I have been inconvenienced enough at this busy end of the year school time that I will probably not do this again. She is in a meeting presently and has not been able to verify if she has now received the new email sent to her personal account, but the hassle alone will make me think more than twice. about doing this again. Unfortunately, I really like dealing with Amazon, but this has not been one of the better experiences, especially since I'm sure they could make it better if they put a little thought into it.
