Nice Treat, but too expensive over $!5
Like many others, I started grabbing Evian 1L cases (12 bottles) when they dropped down to $11. And when the price subtly rose to $13.68, I continued to purchase, but I noticed the price increase in my bank account. When the price was so low, I purchased because Evian was a "treat" due to its previous high price and limited availability. As the low prices began, it was easy think I'll stop buying these when it gets expensive. I tolerated the smashed boxes, dented and smashed bottles because of the fast delivery and low prices. But rest assured, it was common place to get a box of 12 bottles with the necks smashed inward. Or boxes completely destroyed and bottles falling out.
I can appreciate that Evian made a deal with Keurig Dr Pepper Inc for distribution. I guess they let that deal expire on July 1st, 2019. It was a mistake for Evian. If they had let this affordable price go on for a lot longer, it would have continued to spread. In another 18-36 months, Evian could supersede Poland Springs, Dasani and Aqua Fina! Imagine, an America where bottled water is actual, naturally occurring, unpolluted water instead of the pre-soda water, filtered mix that we buy today. It could be like the America of 120 years ago all over again, conveniently, available in clean, clear, plastic bottles and without the cholera and Polio! These few months where I could actually afford Evian were fantastic. But, at $22 a case, it's just as easy to walk to any store and buy one cold, bottle off of the shelf as a "treat".
Life is a negotiation. I'm sure Evian would prefer to win. I'd like Evian to win too! Here is my offer to Keurig Dr. Pepper Inc and Evian Inc; bring the price back below $13/case and I will continue to voraciously purchase at least 2 cases per week. I'll throw in free advertising, happily handing bottles to guests at my house and telling anyone that will listen about the amazing value! As if that wasn't enough! I'll also not complain when you destroy entire cases during shipment. I won't even demand a replacement (so long as the bottle is still intact) about the destruction. For the sudden, unexpected, 62% price increase, I am deducting 62% of stars and then dinging it another 0.5 stars over previously destroyed shipments when it was affordably priced.
Do the smart thing Evian, increase your customer base with lower margins -- $12.50 for 1L (12) case and you'll grow. You'll grow very, very fast. If it worked for Amazon, it can work for you too!
