quick guide, ending destroyed my view
I’m a fast reader and was able to get through this and take notes in a couple hours adding tabs to where I want to indulge more.
There is not a lot of depth to this book. It’s pretty basic and simplistic, which is good for someone stepping into the field, not for seasoned practitioners. There were new things you can always learn and pick up when reading anything, but I was hoping for more core and buildable information (the juicy stuff you get from people who have been brought up practicing).
My biggest con is that I don’t agree with her “integrity in Witchy” pages 227-229 where she suggests not to use the term “smudging” because it refers to Native American culture, not to use the term “spirit animal” due to Native American decent, or she says “ instead of ‘chakras’ use ‘energy points’ and leave ‘mantra’ for Hindus and instead use ‘chant’”.
Really? I totally disagree. We as humans, even if we come from different cultures, we are entitled to embrace all human culture no matter what our decent or how we were brought up. Given that we respect the ancestors/practicing cultures and thank them for the knowledge. We are all equal and shouldn’t have to change any term we use especially out of respect to where it originated. I should not have to change the correct vocabulary because I wasn’t born of that blood. We, as humans, all share the same blood in one way or another. We are all from the same earth and flesh of Homo sapiens. It’s respectful to use the correct terminology and respect where it came from. Being ignorant of traditions in history is only the fault of ourselves. So indulge in the background of anything your are dabbling in, it’s safer to know where it originated , to know it’s natural intention or how it was used. Always respect the cultures you learn from by using the correct terminology because by changing the wording it can be viewed as highly disrespectful to that specific culture.
Never once did she stress the importance of how your intent is the number 1 rule when practicing and what ever intention you put out can come back around. Always be careful what you wish for because It is a fact that “energy can not be created or destroyed”, it can only be altered. Intent is one thing that can alter energy.
Sorry for my rant, but we don’t need anymore dividing, we all stem from the same source. Blessings to all!
2 stars for good intent, lost others due to what was mentioned above in length lol.
