If you are a Mac user, do not buy this product ... ... UNLESS you're totally cool with wandering hopelessly confused around the internet looking for the right software update for your computer. Epson has had a *known* compatibility issue with Macs since at least 2014. My exact issue has been appearing on message boards and printer forums for years. The issue, as described elsewhere, is that when you are scanning photos, the scanner itself goes to sleep in the middle of the task. If you have four photos on the scanner bed, it will sleep immediately after scanning photo #1. It only wakes up if/when you wiggle the mouse. Then it will take up, scan 1 more photo, and go back to sleep. Still only 50% through the original task. This gets old FAST. We only figured out how to override this annoying, pointless bug, because my brother, who is insanely tenacious, spent 2 hours cursing and swearing and finally found a link BURIED on the Epson support page. The update is called "EPSON Scan Common Updater v1.00" and can be found under the Utilities tab. Hey, Epson, how hard would it be to include that information on the sheet that comes with the printer? Or, given that the problem has existed for 4 YEARS, why not just fix it? Seriously, Epson, get it together.
