So Disappointed - Terrible Control Solution
So let’s start off by noting I am a licensed professional engineer who designs HVAC systems for large commercial properties. I am very familiar with HVAC control systems and a big fan of the VRF Heat pump systems, with Mitsubishi being one of my favorites. I have a 5 zone Mitsubishi system installed in our primary home using MHK1 thermostats and the Honeywell Redlink Internet Control and have been very satisfied with this solution. We recently were fortunate enough to acquire a vacation home and we upgraded the Home to include a 7 zone Mitsubishi heat pump system. We let our dealer convince us to use the new Kumo controls. HUGE MISTAKE! Not only does the APP routinely fail to update the controlled units as noted in other reviews, (multiple times I have set back all 7 units to 55F at our vacation home only to find about half of the units running at a higher temperature a week later in the unoccupied Home) the entire concept of this control product line has a MAJOR flaw: there is no synced local control of the heat pumps. This really confuses guests and family members. While the remote controls that come with the standard heat pump can still control the unit - they are in no way synced with this APP, and they do not reflect the current state of the heat pump. You can have the heat pump set to run at 72F Cooling on the local remote only to find it running at 55F Heating via the APP. And by the way - one you switch to Kumo, the unit runs off of return air temperature - not the ambient temperature in the location of the remote control. Again - very confusing for virtually all of our guests and family members. Don’t get me wrong - I absolutely love the Mitsubishi heat pump product - I am just going back to the MHK1 programmable thermostat, with Redlink Interface we have running at our primary home. What a waste of over $1500 of controls! Mitsubishi you should be thoroughly embarrassed by this system. DO NOT BUY
