DO NOT PURCHASE THIS ITEM
If you are traveling to a place that is heavy in snow and you need snow chains, either don't go there or do not ever buy these snow chains from Amazon. Because these chains are incompetently and poorly made, it will damage your car.
Installing the snow chain was difficult. You may not be able to speed up past 20MPH. It also causes a lot of noise, and it kept shaking the car. You may lose traction.
After driving about 10 miles with the chains on, I heard a loud noise that sounded like something was stuck.
I got out of the car and checked on the tires. The chain was broken. The purple rubber holding the chains together showed wear and tear. The metal part of the chain ripped the tire and damaged my car. The pieces of the chain stuck somewhere in the tire that caused the steering wheel turned 45 degrees even when I try to drive straight.
My car now looks scratched and dented. I had to remove all chains and drive in the snow.
My car continuously skid and lost balance. Some time later, we even passed the center divider (double yellow lines). We searched for another store that sells snow chains. Due to the Thanksgiving holiday, there were no shops opened within 360 miles.
Driving at 5MPH for 7 hours, my family and I were still had not arrived to our cabin. The night time has arrived. The temperature continued dropping. The snow piled up the road. All of sudden, my car slipped and hit the guard rail. Looking out the window, all I’ve seen was snow covered cliff that’s waiting for us to fall off. We were in panic; people who were driving behind us stopped and came to check on us if we were okay. If there was no guard rail, my husband, 1-year-old son and I would have possibly died.
We re-installed the snow chains thinking it’s better to have the car damaged by snow chains than slipping off to the cliff and lose our lives.
However, driving at 5MPH, all four chains broke.
We had to continue driving with fear in the harsh weather conditions. Luckily, we found a place where we bought new chains for $120, and they did not break on us. I was able to speed up to 35MPH, and we made it to our destination.
I recommend the future buyers not to buy these chains so that you may not have damages to your car and save your lives.
