Buyer beware! Ruined by repeated reformulation
The version of this product that American Crew Fiber is selling now is near fraudulent. I've bought this product three times since 2013 and it was excellent in its first formulation but subpar in its current one. I have a little bit of all three left to compare against each other.
The first iteration of this product had a nice smell and a soft taffy texture that quickly warmed up into a smooth layer on your hand when rubbed together. It was mostly white with some apparent variation in shininess throughout the clay.
The second was less white, had slightly less shininess to it, and smelled similar but was not quite the same. It still functioned well as hair clay but wasn't quite as pleasant.
The latest iteration is yellow and dull. The nice smell is gone and replaced with some poorly designed fruity chemical variant. It does not warm up into a nice taffy layer on your hand but remains sticky even when used.
I recommend strongly against purchasing this product both for being mediocre in use, but primarily for using deceptive tactics on this product in Amazon's marketplace.
I haven't yet found a good replacement but welcome suggestions from any readers.
