NOT an Automotive-Grade Product!!!
DO NOT -- I repeat: DO NOT USE THIS PRODUCT FOR ANY AUTOMOTIVE APPLICATION that may in any way, shape or form be exposed to gasoline, even the lightest solvents, chemicals, corrosives or harsh weather conditions. I spent over 20 hours painting my motorcycle tank and fenders using Duplicolor metallic paints, did some striping, and then applied 4-5 coats of the Duplicolor Clear Coat. We waited 4-5 days for it to dry and then reassembled the bike. My husband went to fill the tank with gas, and spilled some of the gas on the tank, wiping it off within 30 seconds. The gas ate straight through the clear coat in nothing flat. Putting the cart before the horse, I went online and found similar complaints on numerous sites and forums confirming the poor quality of this product. I went to an automotive paint store, and they also confirmed that Duplicolor Clear Coat is, at best, minimally effective for an automotive finish. If you want a hard clear enamel that is impervious to solvents, wear or weather, go with USC Spray Max 2k High Gloss Clearcoat Aerosol. Spray Max is a two-stage aerosol that mixes kind of like epoxy right before you use it, and is made specifically for automotive finishes (many of its happy reviewers even mention using it over Duplicolor), and also is guaranteed to be impervious to weather and chemicals.
I'm sure Duplicolor Clear Coat is just fine for hobby use, but based on my experience and research, the company has no business passing this off as an automotive finish.
