Not practical & not good for Bettas
It may look nice, but it is not at all practical. It seems that whoever designed this never used it and may not have ever kept any fish tank.
1. The lights are not bright enough to keep plants.
2. The glass cover collects huge bubbles of condensation that obscure the little bit of light that comes from the lamp.
3. The compartment that holds the filter is almost impossible to clean.
4. The filter motor is extremely difficult to access. You have to tug it free by pulling hard on the electrical cord. How safe can that be?
5. There is a flimsy, plastic cover for the filter compartment. First, it doesn't fit. Next, with the electrical wires from the filter motor and the heater, there is no way that plastic cover is going lay flat - even it had fit.
6. A sizable part of the 3 gallons the tank holds is actually in the filter compartment, so the fish do not get 3 gallons.
7. Marineland could not bother to make clear which filter goes with which tank. Follow the letter? the color? tank name? Is this a Penguin, Eclipse, Emperor, or Millennium? Horizontal or vertical?
I wanted a small tank with a good filter and good lighting for my Betta. This tank was recommended for Bettas in an online article. Do NOT get this tank for Bettas. Even with the filter turned as low as it will go, my poor Betta hides all day. He can't fight the current.
I wish I had known before I had set up the tank what I know now. I wish I had never bought this tank.
