When I first used this product, I found out it shed tiny little splinters, which was disturbing since it might get in my food. So I emailed the manufacturer, and they told me to sand down the cutting boards and use mineral oil. Although I expected having to oil my boards at some point, I did not expect having to finish them myself. Brand new boards should not require this. Even after sanding and oiling, the board still feels quite coarse to touch, and I worry the splintering might still be happening. After oiling, I also noticed that there were some noticeable cracks in the boards at the seams as well as knife marks (I only used it once!). All I can say is, I guess you get what you pay for (though I'm not sure these boards are worth even that).
