WARNING, As a licensed electrician for over 30 years L26 IBEW, I WARN you that this is a total scam.
My neighbor fell for this. I am a licensed electrician in three jurisdictions including Wash. D.C. And for over 30 years I have worked in both the residential as well as commercial electrical field for both new installation and as service of just about every electrical device or system you can imagine. (Local 26 IBEW)! My neighbor bought "4" of these from Amazon for $12 a piece. He installed them as indicated by the company. And then waited two months "Per the manufacturer", to see a difference in his billing. There was no difference. He then told me about the device and his problem. He asked me, "What did I do wrong"? First, I looked at the device, read the instructions. looked up the advertisement and read that also. Then took them ,"The devices", apart. Since I did not believe that such a device as small and light as it was could do much of anything as far as, "Cleaning" the power up to begin with. "I", (By the way), am also an "Audiophile", And I am very comfortable in my knowledge about power conditioning, and related technologies as I own several pieces of such gear myself. I am also well trained and very experienced in the use of the Oscilloscope and in fact I own and use both digital and analog oscilloscopes. which I use in both my work and also hobbies. "Electronics". SO..... After taking them apart and looking closely at what was inside? I concluded that this was just one more "Scam", that sounded too good to be true. BUT I realized, It would capture the imagination of many people, desperate to save some money. and also many just wanting not be "Ripped Off" by the big power companies. (No one wants to feel like a sucker, right?) Let alone BE a "sucker". What was inside? A tiny circuit board which worked as a AC to DC transformer attached to a small green, LED light and that's it! Which is what HAD to be there in order for the "Green LED indicator" light on the this piece of junk to light up! AND NOTHING ELSE! Since my neighbor didn't, "Quite fully believe me". (People never like to admit they were ever wrong do they)? I sure don't like that feeling! Hee hee hee. "But S-Happens"..... I hooked up an extension cord to an outlet in his home and hooked it up to my analog oscilloscope. I showed him the sine wave made by his home AC system. I then put back together ALL of the devices and plugged them into receptacles on the same circuit that the oscilloscope was hooked to. "Making sure the 'lil green light was ON of course"! Then I attached a "Tone generator" to another receptacle and turned it on. This sends a tone, 'Variable Modulation", through the system and changes the sinewave. So it is basically a noise I can change that you may see on the oscillosco. And it changes the form of the wave "radically", If need be. I showed him this. Also how to modify what the meter read and how. He said, "But it says it takes some time to work"! So, I left the oscilloscope there. "I have two, remember". I told him to let me know when he was absolutely, positively sure that he was being-"swindled". And also if he had any more questions or any problems with using the oscilloscope. He asked a few questions over the first week about reading the instrument and then a few weeks later he had the power company come out and do a "reading and calibration" of his service electrical meter. "Just in case", he said. Finally He believed it for himself! He gave me the meter back and then tried to get a refund. NOPE! So about $85 with shipping down the toilet. Plus the charge for the "Service Call" to the power company! (It was the scam device company that says over and over in the adds to just, "Give it some time to make the system efficient"). Does that even make any sense????? This makes you hold-on to the devices until they won't and do not HAVE, to refund you! That's all! Regardless of being able to prove that it does not work as advertised? They said it had been too long, "30 days" and didn't owe him a thing! Why are these still for sale? Don't get "Bit" by these! like most things that sounded too good to be true? These were as well!!!!!!!!
