★★☆☆☆
Not well written, flat characters and dumb dialogues
This book has interesting ideas, but is not well written. The sentences are always short and simple. The grammar is often odd (and why is "through" consistently spelled "thru"?). The author often describes things that are irrelevant to the story. The characters are flat and do not seem to truly care what is happening. The book describes human's first contact with aliens, but no one seems at all interested in that. The main character treats his visions with the same interest as his breakfast cereal. Many of the dialogues are just plain dumb. No one really talks like that. The style of this review should give you a good idea of what to expect in the book. I do not know why it got so many 5 star ratings, but the author's appeal to at the end of the book may have something to do with it ("please rate this book with 5 stars, or no one will even consider buying it" [this is not a literal quote, but in my opinion an appropriate summary of the appeal at the end]).
