Sold Out to P&G, Stated First Priority Is To Shareholders
I've loyally chosen New Chapter supplements over all other competitors for decades for one simple reason: I trusted them. I believed what they said about the integrity and purity of their company and products, and I believed they were truly in the business of healing the world. Their prices are high but I happily paid it, partly because I deliberately choose not to support companies like Proctor & Gamble. I buy based on quality and integrity, not price alone. Unfortunately, New Chapter recently sold out to Proctor & Gamble, a mega-corporation whose operations and philosophies stand in complete contrast to everything Paul and Barbie Schulick (the founders of New Chapter) claim in their products represent. However, in a recent statement following the sell-out, the Schulicks said that their company's "primary responsibility is to the economic interests of the shareholders." To me, that's the bottom line. They plainly stated their priorities. Eventually their quality will be diminished in the name of the economic interests of their shareholders. It's not a matter of if, but when. Their value already has diminished since their top shareholders support and profit from GMOs, animal testing, environmental devastation and numerous products with toxic ingredients. Definitely not where I want my money to go. As for Paul and Barbie's public claims that nothing will change about the quality of their products, P&G itself started as a "mom & pop." Their own example illustrates the future of New Chapter. Words are hollow. Paul said in a youtube video response to widespread public outrage, "If we need to be kept honest, you let us know" -- and then he disabled commenting on all their videos. They've already demonstrated repeatedly that they say one thing and do the opposite. I have loved these products for many years, but I will never purchase them again. The good news is that supplements really aren't necessary anyway, especially for people already making healthy, truly ethical lifestyle choices. New Chapter is no longer part of that type of lifestyle.
