A lot of money for a product that may last little longer than the warranty. I purchased this toaster oven and it worked wonderfully. At 13 months of age and 1 month after the warranty expired, the lcd screen would go blank. This has the effect of turning the toaster oven into an uncontrolled device, the timer setting may not turn off the toaster oven, the temperature control may stop working(more on that in a moment). I found that opening and closing the door sometimes would magically cause the lcd to return to working order. Sometimes, toast would be on the blacker side or a dish would overcook because the timer would freeze when the lcd failed to work. I was concerned to watch the toaster oven when using it and not leave it unattended. One day my wife put bagels in the toaster oven, set the timer and went off, I had told her about the toaster oven but she forgot. I entered the kitchen to see the Breville filled with smoke. The lcd was not working and the toast was beginning to combust. I unplugged the toaster oven and took it outside. I called Breville but they weren't interested in helping me because the warranty had expired. The service advisor was very evasive and not forthcoming. I got the impression, this had happened before. I did a little googling and found the location of Breville's repair depot in my part of the world. The repair tech was very forthcoming, told me to recycle the toaster oven, it wasn't repairable. This is a $300+ dollar appliance and should last longer than a year. It should also not endanger your home because the lcd screen fails to work. The appliance tech(his company provides warranty service to many brand names) suggested Hamilton Beach because they have a longer warranty, offer similar features and are less expensive. Take a look at Breville's line of appliances, they are expensive, and have 1 year warranty. Truly a case of buyer beware.
