Not PEM, just plain electrolysis, tastes like chlorine
UPDATE: After looking into further research about hydrogen water generator designs, I can confirm that the models I received did not include a PEM membrane to isolate only the hydrogen from the electrolysis process. This is easy to confirm since both the + and - electrodes are intertwined with each other in a loose spiral on the same plane. A PEM device requires that the + electrode be placed below the - electrode with the PEM membrane in between, so this missing membrane explains why this device was making chlorine from spring water and why it was making my health worse rather than better.
The photo above is from the “High Hydrogen” setting, not the “Smart Cleaning” setting, and “Standard Hydrogen” looks similar to the photo as well. This cloudy reaction in the water indicates that the elements being liberated are not passing through a membrane, which would condense them into larger bubbles (about 1/4 the size of soda bubbles) before entering the water above.
