I was reading this on a rainy Sunday and having a grand old time with Celeste and Wendy, until the author felt the need to have a character STATE, not imply, that all cops are bad. This is the paragraph: “Our city cops are constantly in the news for being certified in this or that implicit-bias training, but they still have guns and adrenaline and lifetimes of faulty programming like in any other city.” This is a blanket statement regarding all police officers and it totally turned me off from reading anything else by this author. Try taking a ride-along with a city police officer, Kelly Harms. Your eyes may be opened.
