Dud or stud???
After reading several reviews I rolled the dice and purchased the Rowenta travel Iron. The iron head is solid for the compact size, the plastic handle however, seems cheap and looks like an after thought to the otherwise robust design. Rowenta has always been the brand to beat, in my personal experience, I say "has been" truly in the past tense. I have had several of their irons in the last few years and the quality is hit or miss. This iron is no exception. They showed Rowenta's iron factory on "How it's Made" tv show and most everything is put together by robots. So no eyes on the processes which put the heat sealant into the plate grooves so water stays inside the iron and comes out as steam. Ironically, this is precisely the problem I have had in all my Rowenta irons, water breach. I prepared this iron exactly as the instructions explain. This did not come with water cup so I had to use small measuring cup. After filling it up and then turning it on to heat up to cotton setting (also steam setting), I flipped on the steam switch and there was no steam being produced, there was a small puddle of water forming underneath the iron. I tried pumping the thumb button 3 times and that did not work either. When I shut the iron off, water still trickled out of the bottom holes of the face plate. *insert rolling eyes and shaking of head here*. Definitely a dud.
