I'm a huge fan of Jim Butcher. To make me say something negative about him is like pulling teeth or fingernails. A bad Butcher book is still 10 times better than anyone else. Except this book. Jim starts it off with painting a huge arc of conflict and tribulation. OK. That's what he does. But by the end of the book, SPOILER ALERT!!! Nothing is resolved. We get that Harry and Murphy start to boink, but Harry "pulls out" since he's hurting Karen. Noble, and I get it. I would too. But then he leaves it there, like a discarded hors d’oeuvres left to wilt and decay. We have massive displacements in most of the heavy weights, little other than "Mab - Trust me" for reasoning, and no resolutions. Other's observe this is half a book. I say it's less than that, And Jim, SHAME ON YOU for doing it. Jim sold us out here. There's no two ways about it. We got scammed. Jim Butcher has lost his place with me as a favored Author. I *might* buy another book from him, but I'm going to give it a wall eyed look over first. Give me a whole book. Don't give me half of something and demand full payment. You want $45 for a book? I'm down with that. Just establish a trust that youll deliver. As of now, I don't give you $5 woth of trust.
