A good tracker with a challenging interface and simply unacceptable customer service
You want ease of use and a speedy interface? Trust me, this tracker will frustrate you. The web-based interface AND the app are slow as molasses and also confusing. And this coming from an IT guy with a quarter century of experience! However, I am not complaining (too much) because their fees are very reasonable. The default service, built into the price of the tracker, updates your location every 3 minutes. That should be OK for most people but if you want to move to faster updates, those are available at nominal upgrade prices (I upgraded to 60 second refreshes). What is inexcusable is the slow refresh speeds (of the UI) and the interface navigation in general. It takes ages to refresh the screen. This is presumably due to the backend database because this problem afflicts both the mobile app and the web-based interface. The software's fleet management roots show in the interface. Man, all I wanna do is track the fricking thing via GPS. When I login, show me a map with my car on it. Is that too much to ask for? But no, you have to login, locate the trip through the confusing menu, then decide if you want to track by trip or by day. Seriously? Just give me a map with a current location. After a few months of ownership, I am still trying to figure out where the hell the location options are. I can afford to be critical because I have three other trackers with different vendors. I have the AmericaLoc tracker (another famous one on Amazon which is overpriced with high fees and a so-so interface that looks like it was designed by my grandma in the early 90s). I also own the Amcrest tracker which has absolutely the best interface but extremely high monthly fees ($20 per month for 60 second updates--take it or leave it). Now, admittedly, this device isn't just a GPS tracker, it can also track your fuel level and economy, battery voltage as well as driver behavior but most of us don't necessarily need that. Finally, their social interface integration is overarching and spoils what should really be a minimal interface. Come on, VYNCS, can I just please have the ability to turn that off with an "X" on the web and in my app? I don't care what my neighbors and friends are doing and don't want to connect with them socially through a GPS tracker. I have regular Facebook for that. In summary, If you want basic tracking capability and like saving money, this tracker is for you. However, if you want regular updates and want to see where your vehicle is in real time, don't bother with this. You get what you pay for in the end. Personally, I am using the following, they have a great device with fantastic customer service and come highly recommended: [https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07CVG66SF?ref=myi_title_dp] Edit - 09/09/2018: Based on the trolling comments left by the vendor, I have reduced my rating from three to two stars and canceled my account. This cost me a hundred bucks but I will not deal with vendors who try to discredit their users simply because they don't leave them a positive review. The vendor can claim whatever they like, I was using the device properly and in a supported country. Edit - 09/18/2018: I have downgraded my review to a single star based on outright harassment by this company simply because I happened to agree with a reviewer in a comment about their customer service. Edit: 07/18/2020: Updated the recommended tracker link to 4G version Edit: 01/03/2020: It looks like the VYNCS Amazon feedback team realized their comment deriding my review and critique of their service made them look even worse and decided to remove it completely. They accused me of being a paid reviewer for a competitor even though my Amazon account is 25 years old. Regardless, I would advise everyone to steer clear of this company.
