Fiction authors: Keep your political opinions to yourself
I don't write a lot of reviews, but I was moved to write this one because an otherwise pretty good story was twice ruined by the author's gratuitous slams of Donald Trump. I'm no fan of the man, but I read romance to escape all the political and other crap life throws at me each day. To find it has now invaded my romance novels for no reason other than to force the author's political animosities on me leaves me more than sad. The worst part is the story was engaging enough to make me want to keep reading each time Trump came up, despite the book's desperate need for a proofreader/editor, but now, there's no way I'll ever order another book by Julia Kent. The offending passages: "I saw Declan McCormic naked, served Gerald with inheritance paperwork that might be worth nine figures, and went on a date with a blowhard who makes Donald Trump look like Mother Teresa." Declan's face was frozen in a mask of horror, like Chris Christie at a Trump rally.
