Do not waste your money on these silicone wipe blades. Worst ever and unsafe in the rain!
I am a professional truck driver with over 2 and 1/2 million accident free miles experience. I have tried every brand of wiper blade made available in the stores and truck stops; each claiming to be the best. These are the worst I have ever come across. Yes they are easy to install. Yes they are quiet running across the windshield. Their performance in wet conditions is terrible. Disregard anything you see on the youtube videos and what Scotty Kilmer recommends regarding these silicone wiper blades.
After following the instructions and thoroughly cleaning the windshield with rubbing alcohol and blue shop towels, let dry, then apply the magic ingredient they supply on the moistened towelette, I installed the wiper blades and ran them dry across the windshield (Per the instructions) for 3 minutes. First thing I noticed was a haze on the outside of the windshield which I thought would dissipate with the first rain I encountered. 50 miles into the trip I hit a Thunderstorm
That rain I drove into was a frog strangler. I turned on the wipers and it was like driving with no wipers in a fog with worn out wiper blades. The haze on the windshield from the silicone towelette was a bad choice and the silicone wiper blades did not clear the water off the windshield. They just smeared it across. It was as if I had a lot of oily road spray on the glass. Those with any driving experience will know what that is. My vision was impaired by 50%.
First opportunity I had to get off the road safely I took. I immediately removed the silicone wiper blades and using rubbing alcohol cleaned the windshield throughly. Then I reinstalled the old rubber blades I had saved and pulled back out onto the Interstate to resume my trip. After removing the silicone and blades the haze on the windshield was gone and with the rubber windshield wiper blades running my vision was clear and I could proceed safely.
These silicone wiper blades are over hyped, over priced, unsafe and will obscure your vision. Please do not waste your money on these. Better to buy the tried and proven rubber blades every six months and be safe.
Also, I did experience one other thing with the silicone blades. When I used the windshield washer spray, (Bug Wash brand) in conjunction with the silicone blades it left bad streaks on the windshield and side windows from runoff. Those streaks would not come off with regular glass cleaner and I had to use rubbing alcohol to get it off the glass. I have never had that experience with the old style rubber blades. So, sometimes newer is not better. Save yourself the hassle of having to deal with silicone blades and stick with the old school rubber blades. Keep it between the ditches drivers and Thank a Truck Driver because everything you got was brought to the stores by a truck. The container ship and train doesn't drive to your house or business.
