I formatted it for Mac OS and did one Time Machine backup successfully. I have another external that gets hourly backups. This one would be off-system for monthly backups. When I took it out of my closet after one month, it would not mount on the Mac. I got the clicking sound that other reviewers have mentioned. The Mac won't mount it or read it. I called Toshiba support. The support agent basically acknowledged that the clicking sound and non-mounting is a known issue. He said "Ninety percent of these drives work fine." So a Toshiba tech support employee in essence admitted that ten percent of their drives fail. Will you play those odds with your data? My Amazon return window ended the day before this failure. I strongly recommend that you DO NOT BUY this product. And my recommendation to Toshiba is they should improve their manufacturing and quality control processes.
