The connector to the blanket is very bulky plastic, and the cord from the connector to the controller is WAY too short - like 2 feet at most. The instructions specifically say to put the connector at the bottom, but then the cord is so short the controller is below your knees and you have to basically get up in order to change the amount of heat. To make the controller reachable, you would have to turn it the opposite way and have the bulky connector + wires in your face. Also, the instructions are very clear not to let the wires or controller get kinked / wedged between cushions or rumpled into the blanket. Using it on say, the couch, it can create a potential fire hazard since the controller is down around your knees, moving around at night while sleeping almost guarantees the controller is going to get wedged in between sofa cushions and/or rumpled up somewhere in the blanket. It does work though - I hang the controller off the foot-end of the couch and although have to get up to change settings, it heats up fine just like any other electric blanket... so an extra star for that. If the controller cord was 7 feet or so, it would be 5 stars.
