Turbo messes with Smash Bros, no instructions
I thought I had a defective product. As soon as I took this out of the box and started playing Smash Bros, all of my held inputs(charged attacks) would cut off immediately, well before I released the button I was holding. I tested this across 4 Wavebirds with 4 different receivers each, 3 wired Controllers, and all of that across all four ports on this adapter.
For some reason, Turbo was somehow on for all inputs in every port. If you don't know what Turbo does, it basically makes it so if you're holding a button, the game will think you're hitting it really fast. There's no LED to indicate whether it's active or not. It's just a button, and it doesn't stay pushed in or anything when it's on. Normally, like on Madcatz controllers, you toggle Turbo for each button individually. So you hold the turbo button and press (A), then release both. Now whenever you hold (A), the game will think you're mashing it super fast, and you'd turn it off the same way you'd turn it on. So the last thing I tried was holding the turbo button and pressing every button, and I had to do this across all four ports. As if that's not enough, it seems like the button may be defective on my unit. It worked for about half the inputs. So I had to go through and figure out which inputs were still messed up, and try to turn it off for those too. Oh and on a controller with Turbo, when you unplug the controller, it resets all the turbo'd buttons to default. Wish this had been so easy.
Does that seem confusing to you? Hope not, since this thing doesn't come with any instructions, nor is any of this mentioned anywhere on the product page. Notice how it has two USB cables? While I was trying to fix the input situation, I found that the grey lead doesn't need to be plugged into the Switch Dock for this thing to work. Maybe it's the cable for using it with a PC, maybe it's supposed to be plugged into a wall adapter, maybe my router lol? Too bad I'll never find out unless I look in the instruction manual that it didn't come with.
Bottomline: Most of the reviews are good. I may have just had an unlucky experience, but without an instruction manual to look through, good luck troubleshooting any problems YOU might have. Do yourself a favor, and spend a few extra bucks to get Nintendo's Gamecube Adapter.
Edit: I left the same feedback on the sellers page, but gave them 3-stars there because when I bought it, it was back ordered til December 21st, but it arrived on the 17th. They had the review thrown out because Amazon is responsible for the shipping. That shipping saved you an extra star. Scummy way to keep your 5-star seller rating.
