After using these lids for 2 years I feel it is time to share my opinion. I am sorry I wasted my money on these lids. I have only experienced a 30% success rate with these lids and have even had a lid on a jar of tomatoes blow off in my face causing 2nd degree burns on my chest, arms, face and neck from tomatoes and a visit to the Doctor for burn treatment.The extra thickness of these lids reduces the amount of thread on the jar that holds the ring down. In addition to that, Tattler recommends that you leave the ring a little loser than normal metal lids. I have been canning for 50 years and normally have a 100% success rate. I have used these lids for a variety of jobs including water bath as well as pressure canning. I have written to Tattler several times only to get the same tired old form letter with the directions repeated. That's all! I wouldn't recommend anyone purchase these lids as they don't seal well, and are unsafe.
