Buy only if you want to burn yourself or give as gift to burn your friends.
I cook with cast iron more and more, love those pans but of course the handles get very hot and you need something to put on them to allow you to handle the pans. When I say "cook" I mean I throw stuff I find on the skillet and flip it a few times add salt and voila dinner is done. In an effort to avoid chemicals found in all nonstick pans which are really bad for you, I purchased an Iron skillet (which I really like) and this was recommended in the frequently bought together section, its has proven to be a lousy suggestion. Amazon should "recommend" a first aid kit and general burn medicines with this product. This silicone handle cover does not itself melt, it does fit most handles, but it also does not provide enough insulation to prevent you from getting burnt especially if you grab the pan handle with a strong grip and if you own cast iron cookware, you'll understand the weight of these things and how anything but a strong grip can work. The more you squeeze the red thing the more searing heat and resulting pain comes through. I will look around for something else but for now I use this and a dish towel to grab the pan, which defeats the whole purpose.
