It will make Heinlein’s true fans’ skins crawl.
There isn’t a page of this awful claptrap that didn’t make me cringe. I never liked any of the so-called “World as Myth” books and always assumed them to be the result of Heinlein’s late-life illnesses multiplied be the odious influence of his subtly domineering wife. This, however, is utterly inexplicable, from the nauseatingly cutesy dialogue to the catastrophically self-reflexive plot conundra. No one who cherishes the memory of “Door into Summer,” “Double Star,” “Starship Troopers,” and all the great (so-called) juveniles will be able to read this without grief, nausea, and rage that it was ever published.
