This is a nice vacuum, except for one fatal flaw. The brush does not stop spinning when you set the vacuum upright. The FIRST time I used this, the spinning brush frayed the power cable (see picture). You could call this a user error, but I was even watching out for this to happen. I was using the hose and had the vacuum upright with it on the highest carpet setting, and being careful not to let the cable get underneath it. IT STILL CHEWED THE POWER CABLE while I was moving around with the hose. Thankfully I caught it quick enough that it didn't reach the live wires. The power cable is also positioned VERY LOW on the vacuum making it more likely to get stuck under the brush. I can fix it with duct tape but I would rather have my money back. This is a major safety issue, I would look for a vacuum that will stop the roller, and I definitely wouldn't let young people use this vacuum. UPDATE 10/14/21: After owning this for 1.5 months, the cable has been frayed in 6 different spots! See second picture for all the duct tape I had to use. I called Hoover, and they told me I should not use the vacuum anymore, but they would not refund or replace the unit because the problem is my fault. Thankfully Amazon gave me a refund when Hoover would not stand by their products. And just to clarify, I am not an idiot that can't use a vacuum. I regularly use power tools including grinders, table saws, and mills, and I still have all my fingers and cables--except for this thing. Amazon customer support is excellent. Hoover warranty is useless. Buy a vacuum with roller on/off.
