Good Book for non-sewing families
I hate to give a low review about any book. But, I want to offer advice to someone else like me who may be thinking about purchasing this book for their child.
The Good:
*lots of hand sewn projects that can be completed by a young child and are very beginner level friendly.
*Great sewing basics in the intro.
The not so good:
*All the projects are pretty basic. There is not a lot that a child could advance to.
* Most of these projects can be found elsewhere on the web for free: For example instructions for drawing and sewing your own stuffed animal.
*The skills used in this book are 90% hand sewing. There is not a lot of machine projects.
This book is great for: A family who has no sewing background, doesn't want to invest in a machine, and wants to offer their child a very basic foundation before buying another book to further their skills.
This book should be passed by: If the parents already know how to sew, read craft blogs, or want to teach their child machine sewing in addition to hand sewing. Also if the child already knows how to sew items together by hand then this is not the book for them.
