This “new” version stinks.
These filters have changed as of January 2020. I have this humidifier for almost 3 years, and I have loved it. It essentially cured me of chronic dry sinuses and I haven’t had a nose bleed in years. I replace my filter once a month, and even used the Subscribe & Save feature to get a new one each month at a slight discount. I use distilled water only, and have always run the humidifier on low each night next to me bed while sleeping. And I’d only have to refill the water reservoir every 2 days. It always would go through a half gallon of water each night (8-9 hrs while I slept) on the low setting.
In December 2019, I received an email from Amazon stating my item wasn’t available for Subscribe & Save and alerting me to make changes. When I checked, it said the filter I’d been buying (the Honeywell type A) was not in stock with no indication when it would be back in stock. I ended up finding this “new version” of the A filter with this blue netting attached that states it’s effective at reducing mold etc. Well that might be true, but it’s also effective at reducing water wicking. This filter doesn’t hold water worth spit. For the last 2 weeks I’ve had to constantly wet it and each morning I wake up to find the water reservoir has barely gone down. My sinuses are dry and I generally don’t sleep as well now. I’ll be looking for a non-Honeywell version of the old filter without this blue netting. I don’t care if it’s more prone to mold, at least it worked. Highly discourage anyone from wasting your money on this new A filter from Honeywell. I’m surprised I haven’t seen more complaints about this honestly.
