I did not get a chance to use the actual device because I have read the privacy policy in the app. The amount of information they collect is just SSN away from a major identity theft case. The app will not let you use the device unless you provide all kinds of information. The company claims that because they sell FDA approved devices, the need a doctor to review your EKG. This smells like a total BS to me. You purchase over the counter drugs in the drug store which are FDA approved. You do not need to fill in any kinds of forms to do this. And the drugs you take internally! Before purchasing this device read their privacy policy! You are sending them personal medical information! Hospitals have very strict rules on handling this information and this is just a random app. The other downside of KardiaMobile occurred to me when I thought about actually using it. Imagine that you need to capture your EKG and want to do it quickly. You would need to get the device, get your phone, open application, make sure the device is connected over BlueTooth, then press bunch of menus in the app. This is way too many things to do for a quick EKG. For an elderly person, you would need to add finding glasses to this list. If you look at competition devices, they are all self contained with an option to connect to the PC or a smartphone AFTER EKG was recorded. Consider your usage of the device before buying it. Also look at the alternatives. Because of all these issues, I returned KardiaMobile back to the company. I have not purchased it from Amazon but directly from the AliveCor website. To the company's credit they issued refund quickly. I purchased KardiaMobile device on my doctors recommendation without doing any research. But after doing some research I can see that there are much better devices and more practical on the market, just not as sleek looking.
