Buying this was a BIG MISTAKE
First let me say should Amazon later add a verified purchaser or not, I bought the book direct from Casey Research. I also did not finish it to the very end. After awhile enough was enough! I felt there was nothing more I could get as it seemed to have a repeating theme. all for me, and none for you! That isnt really a rare mindset in our society so maybe this could be exactly what your looking for. Mr Casey seems to take pride in being offensive. There again, many are truly drawn to that. The title seems to suggest that, as if its looking for those attracted to this. As far as investing, most of the topics evolve around long term trends. He explains how commodities have been on a downtrend for 5000 years. If thats true, (many might not agree) thats good to know. Gook luck though if you can time the turnaround. He says it should be happening soon but if its a 5000 year trend I would not hold my breath. The average persons lifetime is irrelevant in a 5000 year trend in my opinion. He seems to love to offend, have have little regard for laws. Starting on page 1 it boasts of him driving 200 miles from Aspen to the Hotel Fairmont in Denver in 1 hour 49 minutes. Hmmm. That means going over 100 mph on average for the entire trip, some of which is on mountain curves and city driving. Are we supposed to bow with respect for this?? What if someone, or even YOU or a loved one had been killed along that drive? This is by no means admirable. On page 5 it says "people who think in slogans and catch phrases are very dangerous". Then he goes on to describe these people as being Paul Krugman, Hillary Clinton, and Kim Kardashian. To me Kim Kardashian is off my radar. I would say Paul Krugman is respectable. I dont remember any stand out slogans or catch phrases of Hillary Clinton that she repeated over and over. I think she said deplorable once. Who took off and made it a catchphrase?? I do remember LOCK HER UP, MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN, NO COLLUSION and tons more but evidently he is fine with all that. Evidently those are not the dangerous people he is talking about. So early on in the book you know just who this book was written for. He also goes on to explain why money laundering is NOT a crime, and taxation is terrible. I dont recall any explanation of how the country is supposed to run with no taxation. Maybe it comes at the very end. On page 35-36 he explains how he is ALL FOR the USA splitting apart. The more small pieces the better! Mr Casey seems to despise immigrants. Page 35 again " lets not forget the large scale subsidized migration of people from totally alien third world hellholes". That says a lot. I travel the world, and I travel a lot. We have a lot of folks from all over right now, but I wouldnt point at any of them or any country and accuse them of being "totally alien". If you get into genealogy, you might learn that ALL OF US, no matter how white or how rich you are have ancestors that were in similar situations back in time. I find his disregard for others offensive. Im a regular old white guy like he is, but in my DNA I even have smidgens or more of Central Africa, North Africa, Middle Eastern nomads, Siberia, Central Asia, civilizations long gone like Lydia, Greenland Eskimo, and loads more. Nobody is as "pure" as they might think. Im not for wide open borders, but we surely need to be a bit more sensitive to others, their situations, and their heritage. If you have read this far, I expect you will know if this book is meant for you.
