I tested it, and the results weren't great.
Keep in mind, I am not a professional biologist, and this should all be taken with a grain of salt, as I am not a professional, and these tests were not done perfectly. That being said, I am a microbiology major and have some experience doing tests like this. So here we go, and I will try to do this without science jargon. My girlfriend bought one of these, and I decided to test it as a free lab. I tested four phones. The first wasn't cleaned at all. The second was cleaned with the Phone Soap sanitizer. The third one was sent through three cycles in the Phone Soap sanitizer. The forth one was sterilized with chemicals. I swabbed all of them, and put them in Petri dishes for 48 hours. After the time was up, the first one was completely taken over by bacteria, showing just how dirty our phones are. The second one, which was sanitized by Phone Soap had much less, but still a noticeable amount of bacteria. The third which went through three cycles of Phone Soap was almost empty. Still, there where still some noticeable cultures. The last one was clear, as expected. So what does this mean? Well, I would say the Phone Soap does to an extent sanitize your phone. However, they are claims that it will completely sanitize it in four minutes seems to be exaggerated. Also, they do not make this assertion, but I'd still like to clarify this, sanitize doesn't mean sterilize. It is not going to kill every microbe on your phone. What is does do is kill a majority of them (after your run it through a few times). So while it is definitely better than nothing, it is not going to guarantee you will not get sick. In my opinion, you would be just as well off wiping your phone off with a baby wipe, or an antibacterial wipe, which you most likely have if you are a germophobe. This seems to be more of a gimmick. So there you have it. Like I said, these are not professional results. If they where they would have been. Conducted much more carefully with more phones tested. I also didn't test what the cultures were, so I cannot say if any of the bacteria was harmful. So take this with a healthy grain of salt, and if you can, test it for yourself. Also as a side note about the actual device, it feels cheap, and I had a difficult time getting it to start. Not what I would want from a sixty dollar gadget, but that is just my two cents.
