I wanted a carpet cleaner that was easy to use, easy to clean, easy on the pocket book, and, of course, works! I found it in this Bissell. When I was shopping for a carpet cleaner, I admit I was leaning more towards the Bissell brand. I own a Little Green Machine and have always been pleased with its performance. Like other reviewers have written, the PowerSteamer does leave "lint balls"...in my case, "fur balls" around the floor. But, personally, I don't see this as a problem. Yes, I did vacuum thoroughly, but with a cat and a dog that shed, there will always be pet fur. I would rather gather up those "fur balls" and throw them in the trash than have them sucked up in the tank and poured down the drain to clog the pipes. Don't expect this machine to clean your carpet in one pass! It will do the job well if you take the time. In the high traffic areas of the carpet, I realized that this was going to take extra time and extra passes with the PowerSteamer. I took the time to do four passes on those areas and the black spots that were quite noticeable are gone. You may find this machine cheaper at retail stores. I found mine for a bit cheaper than the Amazon listings by buying in store than on line. Updated July 2, 2013: Well, the honeymoon is over, so to speak. I have knocked down my original 5-star review to a 2-star review. After the third use, I am having an odd issue. No cleaning solution comes out of the tank. I contacted Bissell and they sent me an email of several things to check. If those don't resolve the problem, then I need to take it to an authorized repair shop. And you guessed it...the checklist resolved nothing. I haven't taken the machine to a repair shop yet, and am fearing the cost to repair will be more than the price of the machine.
