★★☆☆☆
Installation is difficult, but worth it.
The directions for installing this were fairly straightforward, I found the following aspects of the install a bit difficult (or could use improvement):
* The support bracket that ships with the unit is one size fits all (from 8k to 12k BTU). The bracket is longer than the 10K BTU model by about two inches.
* Sealing up the spaces to the left, right and below the unit can be challenging. I've highlighted the two areas in the attached picture (from Midea) that were the most difficult to seal up. I was concerned more about bugs coming in through these gaps than cold air escaping.
* As mentioned in other reviews, you will have sunlight coming in on either side of the unit (easily correctable).
* The placement/positioning of the two L-shaped pieces that attach to the lower sides of the unit were difficult to determine from the diagram in the manual (if you watch the video, it'this is much easier to determine).
Beyond the items above, the installation went fairly smoothly with two people.
Once the unit was turned on and set to 60, the unit was cold and very, very quiet (I have fans that make more noise). Connecting this to WiFi (2G only) via the app was also easy (scan the QR code on the side of the unit and have your WiFi password handy. Linking the Midea app to Amazon errored out at first, but the second attempt allowed Alexa to discover this device (as a thermostat).
I don't look forward to taking this unit out at the end of the hotter months, but I'm looking forward to enjoying using this device this summer. I took a risk trying a new take on an AC, and so far it's been worth it.

August 12th Update
I contacted Midea about the following problems discovered during operation:
Water is able to get into the unit through the slats located on the top of the unit. The unit cannot drain because the tray that catches the water is deeper towards the “back” (portion of the unit furthest from the window) is deeper than the portion of the tray that’s closest to the window. Re-pitching the unit will not clear the pooling of water that occurs in the deeper portion of the water tray. Interior of the compressor area is becoming discolored as a direct result.
The pooled water retains debris which invites mold and insects. Pooled water is able to make its way into the portion of the unit inside my home. Vent inside the house is getting spots (mold?).
I would not recommend this unit based on the Midea support recommendation to hire a contractor to drill holes in the unit to correct the design flaw.
