Not tough enough for someone who exercises 5 or 6 days a week?
I received this band 2 days before Thanksgiving 2015. It lasted until January 27, 2016. Everything was good and fine with my Microsoft Band 2 until the two screws that hold the snap/release/charging plate to the band sheared off. I sent my band in for service to Microsoft to see if they could replace the screws (Also, a spring that was lost in the release mechanism when the plate came off while exercising). It was sent back, taped together stating that the damage to the Microsoft Band 2 was outside the scope of warranty. The three bullet points that they cite were as such: 1. Damage by any external cause (including buy not limited to misuse or abuse, impact, or failure to follow instructions in the instruction manual); 2. Damage due to exposure to liquids; and/or 3. Torn or missing parts Apparently the above voids the warranty to their liking. Here is my problem; I've never used my band outside the scope of the intended use. I used it for everyday use and charged it while I shower, get ready in the morning. I work out (5-6 days a week). I sweat. I'm assuming that because I sweat, my warranty is void? There was some rust that appears around the spot where the screw heads where sheared. It is possible that sweat compromised the integrity of the screws. But, in a piece of exercise equipment, that touches skin, why would you use screws that will corrode from salty liquid?!? The loss of the screw heads made one of the springs that causes tension for the clasp was lost while running. I couldn't find the spring in the dirt. Was that the reason why my band wasn't fixed - missing parts? I don't know, no one told me. All I got was a taped up band and a note that said, the "warranty was void." I really enjoyed the band while it was working. Sometimes I wondered about the accuracy of the sleep information, and the calorie burn for exercises. But, I know this isn't an exact science, yet. My girlfriend liked my band so much that we purchased on for her. She has not had any real issues other than battery life problems (she uses an iPhone to connect to her band, I use a Window's phone, maybe there is a difference in how often it connects through Bluetooth, thus using more battery?). But, since my issue happened, I'm not very happy. Maybe the band can't keep up with an active person who sweats?
