The Redesign was a Horrible Idea
It is inexplicable that Mattel would take an iconic toy with an an emotional connection to a devoted fan base that spans generations and redesign it to have more exposed wood and a stubby contemporary look. Is Mattel that out of touch with reality? These redesigned trains no longer resemble the characters in the television series or the books. Thomas fans don't want the new "Thomas Wood"
