Self Destructing Spider-Man?!?
I purchased two identical Spider-Man action figures last April, one for each of my boys. We were very happy with the purchase until today, when the left arm of the figure just fell off, completely by itself. My 4yo had been wrapping a string around the left arm of the action figure and then pulling on the string insanely hard but I can assure you that did not have anything to do with the damage. Because he told me so. I know that it may seem like wrapping a string around the left arm of the action figure and then pulling on the string insanely hard would've ripped the arm off- and I'd certainly be inclined to agree but he is adamant that this did not cause the break. His current working theory is that the tiny plastic arm broke off completely by itself, almost as if by magic. I was obviously doubtful, but all of my doubts were erased 10 minutes later when the left arm of his brother's IDENTICAL SPIDER-MAN FIGURINE also broke off - again completely by itself. Fool me once, Hasbro, shame on me. But fool me twice? This is clearly a product defect. Don't get me wrong, he had AGAIN been wrapping string around the left arm of his brother's Spider-Man figure and pulling on it insanely hard - much harder than one should ever pull on a plastic action figure - but obviously the timing was merely coincidental and this in no way caused Spider-Man's arm to sever at the shoulder.
In the end, maybe I'm complaining about nothing because I'm now being told (also by my 4yo) that it really isn't a problem and that the arms will be easily reattached with either tape, glue, or a needle and thread. So, please disregard this review.
