This book is shockingly populated by mostly white characters. I wished I'd seen the other warnings of being whitewashed because I was so disappointed when I opened it up. For a book that is supposed to celebrate the diversity of cultures, this is a huge let down. I opened up to the page with the African continent and was aghast to see 8 of the 15 people depicted white, with 2 of the people of color clearly supporting white travelers. Most pages are littered with images of white tourists and local "help". North America, South America, Europe, and Asia are all much more diverse than the illustrations here. Shame on the authors for presenting this book as a book about the world. Instead, it's more like a travel log for white tourists. I will be sending mine back.
